City Weddings

Many couples feel city wedding photography doesn’t have the same ‘wow’ factor that a rolling rural view will have, but there is beauty in the urban area. Your city wedding photos have the potential to be all the more interesting, simply because of the backdrop and the need to be imaginative.

I have worked extensively in Sheffield and surrounding cities. My experiences have taken me to some incredible locations close to the main venues, where exciting wedding photos can be taken and of course, I am always on the look out for the chance to be creative in new areas. Wherever I travel I make sure I check out as many streets as I can for hidden treasures and unexpected views.

A brick wall, or metal fence, may not seem like the most romantic backdrop, but in the right light can be beautiful, contemporary and edgy. Additionally, these materials in Sheffield, represent the city’s industrial history; the mills and the once-thriving British steel industry.

I have scoured Sheffield and other Midlands cities for interesting view points, I am able to take couples to archways, bridges and lamp-lit areas that make for interesting backdrops. Glass-surfaced buildings will reflect a couples’ obvious happiness, while large scale street art in the background can give your wedding album a very modern vibe. Step away from the crowd and dare to be different!

A city backdrop, lit up in neon, has been used in some of the world’s most romantic films. Wood Allen’s Manhattan, Sleepless in Seattle and Notting Hill are just a few examples. Let me capture the urban landscape for your city wedding, as you’ve never seen it before; conducive to romance and emotional. If you love living in the city why not have your photos taken in a familiar space, that you identify as home. Your familiarity with the area will make your photos feel more personal to you. You’ll find examples of the city weddings I have photographed in this gallery.
